Beautiful Louis XVI commode in solid mahogany and Cuban mahogany veneer stamped Ferdinand BURY (1740-1795) and marked with the hallmark of the Jurande des menuisiers ébénistes (1751-1789). Ferdinand Bury, known as Ferdinand, obtained his master's degree on July 27, 1774 and immediately met with immense success thanks to his talent and the care he took in the realization of his furniture and art furniture. His bronzes were mainly made by Antoine-André Ravrio, a brilliant and renowned chiseler.
This mahogany chest of drawers is topped with a grey anthracite and white marble in perfect condition, which benefits from a groove around its edge.
This piece of furniture is composed of a smaller drawer in height. The front of the cabinet has a very thin band around the drawer. Underneath, there are two identical drawers with the same characteristics as the previous one. Each drawer is fitted with Louis XVI drawer handles and an original entrance, key and lock in working condition.
The legs of this chest are half-round and composed of three stopped flutes. They end with a turned foot in the lower part accompanied by a brass shoe. The rear legs with straight edges are also equipped with 3 flutes and end like the front legs.
The side panels are slightly recessed from the top and bottom rails and legs.
Note that the back of this chest, as well as the bottoms and sides of the drawers, are in Oak.
A true testimony to the know-how of Ferdinand Bury, a renowned 18th century cabinetmaker, this 250 year old chest of drawers will charm you with its well-balanced aesthetics and the warm tones of the mahogany species, which will fit perfectly into a contemporary decor.
