Exceptional Port Commode in the Nantes region, in massive Amarante, known as d'Amourette. It is at the heart of this tree from French Guiana that the dense and hard wood has been extracted which gives the facade of this piece of furniture this remarkable "Snake Skin" effect.
Note also the pronounced curve of the front, which gives a general grace to this chest of drawers. The frameworks of the facades of the 3 large drawers that compose it are made up of pieces of wood in one piece, outlined in their lengths, which required for the time an astonishing technicality.
Each of its drawers has 2 ornate pull handles with scrollwork and flower decorations, as well as a keyhole also worked. These bronzes are all original, the keys supplied with the furniture are current. The locks are in working order.
A "Brèche de Lourdes" marble literally embellishes this chest of drawers, especially by its singularity and its colors, but also by its molded rim in "Bec de Corbin". The front of this marble is cut in a rounded shape, in order to match the lines of the front of the piece of furniture, while the appearance of its rear edge testifies to its authenticity.
The low crosspiece of this elegant chest of drawers is scalloped in the central part, a decoration also reproduced on the sides but more soberly.
The whole rests on 4 arched feet.
The back of the cabinet, as well as the interiors, sides and bottoms of the drawers are in Oak.
