Louis XVI period chest of drawers stamped M. OHNEBERG. Last quarter of the 18th century. The front has a central projection. On an oak and fir frame, the chevron and fern frieze marquetry is composed of rosewood in amaranth frames separated by boxwood fillets alternating in three rows. The front uprights are rounded and decorated with simulated fluting. They end with spindle feet. This chest of drawers opens with three drawers. The locks are original and functional, fitted with a key. Ornamentation of chiseled and polished bronzes composed of pull rings, keyholes, lamp bases, offcuts, rings and sabots. Thick original Sainte Anne gray marble (3.3 cm) with projection and groove molding. Chest of drawers completely restored with french polish. It bears the stamp of the great Parisian cabinetmaker Martin Ohneberg with the hallmark of the JME jurande. Of German origin, Martin Ohneberg settled in Paris and was received as a master cabinetmaker on July 7, 1773. He was a supplier to the great Parisian merchants. Most of his production belongs to the Transition and Louis XVI style, with fine marquetry composed with care, always elegant.
