Louis XV period chest of drawers. Mid 18th century. In daffodil-colored relacquered oak with pale yellow rechampi, this chest of drawers is finely carved and features fine ormolu trim. The front is curved and the sides straight. The two front legs are arched, sculpted with two scrolls and finished with a scroll. The two back legs are straight. The front jambs are decorated with moldings, openwork shells and foliage at the top and bottom. The lower crosspiece has a wide scroll. It is carved with six scrolls and a leafy shell in the center. The side rails are scrolled and the sides panelled. The chest opens with four drawers with molded fronts in three rows. The handles and keyways are in gilt bronze. The locks are later but functional and fitted with an antique key. The top is edged with a spout. The woodwork is in oak and fir.
