Important chest of drawers in rosewood and satin marquetry in amaranth frames, simulated fluting. A jumping chest of drawers, it rests on high sheathed legs and opens with 3 rows of drawers, the one under the thinner marble. Structure entirely in oak. The chest of drawers is covered with an important white cavet marble. Beautiful finely chiseled golden bronze trim. Parisian manufacture, beginning of the Louis XVI period - end of the 18th century around the years 1775-1780. The pyramid-shaped cabochon bronzes are undoubtedly the identity mark of a particular cabinetmaker, but we have not been able to identify it with certainty.

In addition to the elegance of these lines and its decor, this beautiful piece of furniture differs from common chests of drawers by its dimensions much larger than those of classic chests of drawers (130cm for the longest, ours measures 145.5cm). If master's or doll's furniture is a reduction of "grown-up furniture", this chest of drawers is the opposite: while respecting the proportions of a standard chest of drawers, it is in fact larger in all 3 dimensions. It is a large piece of furniture which was made for a large castle or private mansion, so as not to be "lost" in a large room of at least 40m⊃2;.

Beautiful piece of furniture with elegant proportions, a very rare format for a large home.

Our piece of furniture is in excellent condition: it came from the cabinetmaker with a new pad varnish. The gilding of the bronzes is original and attenuated. No accident, neither to the marquetry nor to the marble.
