Beautiful Louis XVI chest of drawers, inlaid with precious woods, featuring a protruding front and concealed writing space.
The front is inlaid with rosewood surrounded by a net of stained wood, and around it, worked diagonally, alternating lemon and amaranth. The perimeter is in mitered mahogany. These drawers open with chiselled ring handles with macaron and false entrance.
In the upper center of the chest is a long drawer pulled out by a key with an original working lock. The front, inlaid with the same precious woods, opens to reveal a writing area. This comprises two drawers in rosewood and mahogany, embellished with lentil knobs with rosette; and original black leather with gold vignette.
Underneath, this piece is completed by two identical large drawers that join together. These drawers have the same front marquetry as the upper drawers. Each has an original bronze entry and lock. The key is later.
The lower part of the chest features a drop rail with bronze trim and lemon fillet on a rosewood base.
The uprights of this chest of drawers are canted and inlaid with light wood and amaranth, creating the illusion of fluting. The sheathed legs are also inlaid with alternating light and dark woods forming flutes. The legs end in brass sabots.
The sides of this piece of furniture are flat, with a rosewood veneer section that is horizontal at the top and vertical at the bottom. This veneer is surrounded by a lemon and amaranth marquetry with a mitered mahogany frame.
Finally, this chest of drawers is topped with a thick original Sainte Anne des Pyrénées marble with groove.
The back and drawer bottoms are in oak.
