Beautiful chest of drawers with curved front and sides.
Thick veneering of violet wood, rosewood and Rio rosewood.
Opens to three drawers on two rows and rests on curved legs.
Capped with a fine grey breche marble.
Very fine ornamentation with mercury-gilded bronzes.
The 3 locks are original and working.
Stamped twice on the jambs: J.C. ELLAUME
Louis XV period.
This chest of drawers has been checked by our cabinetmaker, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and authorized by the Musées de France.

Received as Master on November 6, 1754, he opened his workshop on rue Traversière where, for 30 years, he produced quality furniture, notably commodes and flat desks, mostly in the Louis XV style, all in rosewood or violet veneer framed with rosewood or amaranth.
The bronze ornamentation is elegant and finely chiseled.
ELLAUME was considered an excellent cabinetmaker in his day.
