<meta charset="UTF-8" />Commode said to be in the retour d'Egypte style in mahogany veneer over oak, beautifully trimmed with chased and gilded mercury bronzes with busts of Egyptian women, resting on wooden claw feet patinated to simulate bronze. The commode is topped with a luxurious Turquin blue marble. Quality Parisian production from the 1800's in the taste of Molitor or Jacob Frères; unfortunately, the absence of a stamp makes it impossible to identify the maker with certainty.

The chest opens with 3 large drawers, the top one being thinner. The locks are cloverleaf and the key works.

A fine amateur's model; our chest of drawers is a fine model of its kind, with all the luxurious finishes that enthusiasts look for and that differentiate it from a common model.

Very good condition, the mahogany is pad varnished, and has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker. Minor old restorations. The bronzes are finely chased and gilded with mercury, the gilding remaining fresh.
