Bon Durand - Small chest of drawers in Satinwood, Rosewood and Kingwood Louis XV period circa 1765

The stamp of Bon Durand or Bondurand or Durand le Jeune is rare, it is with great pleasure that we offer this elegant commode, veneered with precious woods, such as Satinwood, Rosewood, and Kingwood in geometric patterns in filleted frames, mounted on oak frame. Our chest of drawers is slightly curved in front, decorated with beautiful chiseled and gilded bronzes. It opens with four drawers and rests on rounded uprights ending with chiseled and gilded bronze sabots. A beautiful top of marble with a groove finishes this chest of drawers.

Interesting and decorative small commode of the Louis XV period, circa 1765, stamped on the top of the front jambs with the B Durand stamp, as well as the Jurande JME stamp.

Measurements: H 33.26 In. - W 38.18 In. - D 20.27 In.

In very good condition and use, a beautiful varnish made in our workshops.

Biography:

Bon Durand, or Bondurand or Durand le Jeune established his workshop in rue de Charenton, where he worked from the time he obtained his master's degree in 1761 until the Revolution.

His main clients were cabinetmakers like Pierre Migeon and Denis Genty, and upholsterers like Presle and Bonnemain.

His stamp can be found on many pieces of furniture, Louis XV, Transition, and Louis XVI, often in mahogany, and for the most precious ones with veneers of Satin, Rose or Kingwood, very skilfully decorated with geometrical forms or marquetry of flowers.
