Rare solid mahogany chest of drawers or desk from Cuba , the front of the flat chest opens with 4 drawers on 3 rows , 2 large ones in the lower part and two small ones in the upper part , 1 simulated in the center , the edge of the drawers hemmed with a small molding , it rests on small shell feet at the front ;
the flap with rounded corners, with the same molding as on the drawers, reveals a rich interior, with pigeonholes, 4 curved drawers and a theater door, or tabernacle door, adorned with a veneered cross, the combination interior opens two small high drawers and uncovers a "hiding place" ....
The sobriety of the forms is enhanced by a characteristic trim of srrures and cut brass handles.
This handsome and elegant piece of furniture is typical of Saint Malo's quality production, and is presented in "good" condition, and of "small" proportions.
