Authentic Natural Pine Counter - 1900

Natural Pine Storefront Countertop with cut front corners. This top is wider on the left than on the right. It is supported on the front and on one of its sides by openwork Consoles cut in scrolls.
The fronts of this piece of furniture are composed of panels with flat strips, assembled sometimes in one direction, sometimes in the other. They are underlined by Doucine strips forming frames. The front jambs are cut and molded. The whole rests on a large plinth.
What we will choose to call 'the back' of this counter is made of two drawers, assembled with dovetails, and distributed laterally. They are provided with a working lock and their respective keys, all original. This space, originally reserved for the shopkeeper, is also furnished with a fixed shelf, with a maximum depth of 26 cm.
It should be noted that this counter is also equipped with a floor, characteristic of trade furniture, which allowed the shopkeeper to preserve his feet from the cold ground. One will appreciate, in the center, the natural wear of this platform, which testifies to the Authenticity and the Lived of this property.
It should also be remembered that the height of this counter, as well as the important overhang of its tray on the 'front' part, offered the possibility to 'potential customers' to sit down. They could thus comfortably study the exposed products, exchange, and finalize their transactions.
To conclude, we will underline the asymmetry and the double function of this Merchant's Counter, which can be used as a display and/or collection unit.
