Jean-Charles Moreux (1889-1956) is a French architect. Throughout his career, he was interested in many fields, in particular painting or astronomy. During his studies at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, he met André Lurçat, also an architect, who influenced him in the construction of purist-inspired houses. Architect for private clients, like the Véra brothers, whose he redevelops the villa in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, or even Jacques Doucet and Robert de Rotschild, he will also carry out public commissions such as the layout of the painting galleries of the Louvre museum and in particular the Medici gallery.
Founded at the start of the 20th century, Maison Ramsay specializes in furniture and decoration. It achieved its greatest notoriety in the 1950s thanks to its work in glass and gilded metal as well as marble and stone in neoclassical-inspired pieces.
