This panel, entirely in solid walnut, has a movement front. With a very wide low crosspiece in the center, its cut-out becomes narrower at the ends to profile the bottom of the legs. This one is hollowed out with stopped grooves, carved with volutes and patterns. The upper crosspiece is in the same spirit as the lower one. It is however surmounted by small ornaments, called plumes.
In the central part, we find a small door in applique, with hollowed out movements and volutes. Two hearts with an arrow are sculpted on it. It opens with an important cylindrical iron lace plug. The openwork iron entrance and the key, with lock and spring strike, are original.
The door is surrounded by turned spindles that are also found on both sides of the cabinet. At the ends of the front, slightly wider turned columns, in spindle form, are extended by Louis XV snail feet with volutes.
The back and the bottom are made of wooden shelves.
Typical of the furniture of Provence, this bread basket with ornamental sculpture was dedicated to the conservation of bread. It testifies to the high quality of the craftsmen of the Arles region.
