Privateer's safe made in Germany, in the Nuremberg region.

Made of wrought iron, it is polychromed on the front, sides and opening top.

Floral motifs, foliate scrolls and flowers are typical of the Dutch polychromy applied to these German safes.

The key opens an ingenious, robust 5-bolt mechanism. The latter is covered with a finely chased plate featuring Mandarin figures.

The trunk features an additional security feature with a bar blocking the opening and locking with a padlock (posterior).
