Large teak naval officer's trunk reinforced on the front, sides, back and top with wooden elements held in place by sturdy brass straps. Each corner is reinforced with brass brackets. The original two-point locks are in working order, with later keys. The inscription on the top reads: "Docteur Donnart - Médecin de la Marine, Brest".
This is incontestable proof that this trunk has traveled, as the biography of this officer, Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, testifies.
    François Donnart (1871-)
Navy doctor from 1895 to 1920. Officer of the Legion of Honor. Croix de Guerre.
Stationed at Brest, Dunkirk, New Caledonia, Indochina, etc.
Officer on the "Victor Hugo" and the "Duguay - Trouin".
