Korean cabinet known as BANDAJI in solid wood, mainly Zelkova elm (느티나무 榉树/櫸樹), known for its solidity, its name meaning “Pillar of Stone”.
The piece of furniture is enhanced with applied fittings in cut and chiseled brass, opening onto 3 levels. The two upper boxes have two doors while the first is equipped with a pair of double doors, each revealing a box with 4 asymmetrical drawers.
Chosŏn (Joseon) period around 1800. (조선 – 朝鮮)
Provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.

Only one key available on the lower doors, the locks no longer work but the doors close correctly.
