Remarkable Art Deco buffet bar, attributed to the famous French designer and decorator Jules-Emile Leleu (1883-1961). Known for furnishing liners, trains, presidential residences and palaces in the last century.
It opens, on top and in front, with a double flap fitted with a functional lock with key and brass inlaid escutcheon.
The sycamore interior, flanked by original mercury mirrors in perfect condition, features a recessed concave section and two small side drawers highlighted with Amarante fillets. The bar function takes on its full meaning through three brass galleries originally intended for glass storage.
Underneath, this sideboard features two Rio rosewood doors, with lock, key and escutcheon, inlaid with diamonds, lemon fillet and floral motifs in mother-of-pearl and various woods. The interior of this lower section features a central niche and two adjustable shelves, mounted on racks and adorned with friezes on their edges.
Two tapering columns form the front jambs. They are topped with brass rings and terminate in elaborate feet clad with plaques.
The lower crosspiece is slightly cut away.
This exceptional piece of furniture will appeal for its originality, its multiple functions and the unalterable quality of its wood species.
