Two bodies sideboard from the Rennes region, made of honey-colored cherry wood.
It is composed by definition of two elements - the first being narrower than the second - dissociable from each other by a simple system of screws.
The upper part, in the shape of a "Chapeau de Gendarme", is topped by a Cornice with a slight Doucine. It opens with two glazed doors, with bars, locked by a period lock with its key. They reveal three shelves in Chestnut, placed on racks and therefore adjustable at will on a total height of 125 cm.
The lower part offers three drawers with a depth of 11 cm. The center one, equipped with a lock entrance and its working lock, is also less wide than the other two, which are equipped with pull handles on brass cut-out plates. Underneath, two solid doors with symmetrical veining reveal a 50 cm high space with a shelf, also adjustable.
The sides of the furniture are also made of recessed panels.
The unit rests on a slightly raised base with a modestly curved front.
The back and the bottoms of the drawers are in Chestnut.
One can imagine the upper part of this piece of furniture being used as a Bookcase or Chest of drawers, while the lower part will keep a function of Buffet in the strict sense.
We will appreciate the narrowness of this sleek two-piece, which gives it a relative roominess while maintaining an interesting storage capacity.
