Rare Popular piece of furniture from Melle, in Deux Sèvres (79).
It is made of solid wood judiciously combined: Doors and Fronts in Walnut, Sides in Cherry.
It opens with Four doors, with partial cutouts that differ between the top pair and the bottom pair. Likewise, where it is a motif carved in a circle that we find on the two upper doors, there are discreet volutes which decorate the two lower ones. Each of these doors, equipped with an original lock in working order and having its own key, discovers two storage compartments formed by the presence of an ash shelf placed on fixed battens.
This sideboard also offers, as a belt, two large drawers with pull buttons.
Note that a fine molding borders each of these openings.
We will also appreciate the low scalloped crosspiece, the sculpted decorations of the top one, itself surmounted by a molded cornice with rounded angles. The central part has three long vertical furrows, hollow at the top, they become full halfway up.
This piece of furniture rests on four large legs, curved at the front and straight at the back.
It should be noted that only the brass keyholes and the 2 cm thick heels on the front part are current.
This Authentic piece of furniture with interesting dimensions offers an unusual structure for its time and this independence of its four doors gives it an undeniable advantage.
