    Clement XVIII was born in Venice in 1693. Pope in 1758, he died in Rome in 1769. In opposition to Louis XV, he supported the Jesuit order. Without lasting success, because the king had them expelled from the kingdom in 1764.

    Our boiserie sideboard is in lacquered, gilded and silvered wood. It opens with a richly painted leaf of an angel bearing the arms of Pope Clement XIII. Our angel in soft colors, surmounts a cartouche in the name of this same head of the Church, and a motto "Clement XIII, Peter Omnipotens Misericors..."

    The whole is framed with baroque foliage nets on a beige background and painted faux marble.
    A Talian production around 1760. Usual restorations and modifications. Some lacks including key.
