Briard oak sideboard from the early 18th century.
The Brie region, and in particular the town of Beton Bazoche, is the birthplace of the Briard buffet, also known as the Buffet Carré or Buffet d'appui.

This Briard sideboard is of good size, with a scallop shell on the bottom rail. The uprights are chamfered, or "Pan coupé".
The top of the doors is carved with flowering sprays.

The large drop handles are typical of these buffets.

The openwork iron entrances are large.

The beeswax patina is warm and nuanced. The interiors are cleaned and glazed.

    Free shipping to metropolitan France.
