Beautiful Arts&Crafts Buffet, probably Austrian. The Arts&Crafts movement seeks the functional and simple aspects of objects. The furniture layout is very sober, generally in solid wood. The grain of the wood, the carpentry and ironwork constitute the only ornamentation of the furniture which is preferably made of oak. This sideboard is a fine example of this style from the 1930s. Note especially the small glazed panes, the two niches on each upper side of the piece of furniture. The sculpted motifs remain very sober and herald Art Deco. Oak is magnificent with its patina and warm side. This typical Arts&Crafts style sideboard will find its place in any kitchen, modern or classic, or in a beautiful, friendly and functional dining room.
