French Napoleon III sideboard from the second half of the 19th century in the style of "VERNIS MARTIN".
The front is characterized by a hinged door with a painting depicting a love scene in the center, to embellish the sides there are two fluted columns ending with Gorinzi capitals in gilded bronze.
The recessed top is in white statuary marble, the key is original from the period.
The lower band is decorated with a gilded bronze trim with a Marie Antoinette knuckle-duster in the center.
Martin varnish: The technique was perfected in 1728 by the Martin brothers who held the monopoly for twenty years. It was applied in superimposed layers, then left to dry and then painted with landscapes, characters and genre scenes.
