This sumptuous bed dating from the early Louis XVI period is a grand decorative element, but it is also a collector's item, retaining its entire period structure. The canopy, with its superb domed shape, was born with the bed, as are the wrought iron support bars and the five plumes crowning the dome.
Constructed of oak, it is molded and carved. The two headboards, of identical height, have their upper crosspieces cut in the shape of a donkey's back. This Louis XV shape, again, is supported on either side by fluted columns resting on tapered fluted legs.
The fabric-covered canopy leaves no exposed wood. It contains four plumes positioned as a pendant, and a fifth plume at its summit. These beautifully sized turned and carved pieces are removable, and fortunately, they have been preserved for our greatest pleasure. The wrought iron curtain rods are also original; they are attached to the wood by threads held in place by butterflies, making them all removable.
The wood has been restored, allowing this bed to be used. The lag screws that hold the crosspieces to the bedside tables are original and work perfectly.
The fabrics have been completely redone using a model created from archive documents, published by Casal in its heritage collection. The trimmings, including braid and pompoms, are also new. The mattress was custom-made and rests on a perfectly stable removable board, ensuring strength and comfort.
The Polish-style dome bed models are among the most beautiful and spectacular, ensuring exceptional decor with an authentic 18th-century product. Sleeping dimensions: 190 x 110 cm
