This molded and carved beech daybed with its antique paintwork is a Louis XVI period work consisting of two bedside tables of equal height adorned with fluted columns.
This bed, which can also be used as a bench, is crafted on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere. Fully disassembled, it is assembled with external lag screws. The bed is furnished with a box spring and a wool mattress.
The whole is upholstered in a high-quality blue silk fabric with a nailed finish. The bed also features a scalloped top with stitched braid featuring palmettes and rosettes, as well as two bolsters with the same finish.
This bed dates from the 18th century and can be dated to the end of the Louis XVI period, around 1790. The two side rails are later. The whole is in a beautiful state of preservation and features elegant neoclassical ornamentation.
