The centerpiece of the Eucharistic celebration, this chalice belonged to Abbé Robert Juron (b. 1919), who officiated in various parishes in the Rhône region, including Sainte Foy les Lyon, Mornant and Saint Martin en Haut. The chalice and paten are made of solid silver by the Lyonnais silversmith Memery et Cie, who settled in Lyon in 1930.
In its original case, it is accompanied by its consecration certificate, dated June 17, 1943 and signed by Monseigneur Bechetoille in his capacity as vicar general.
This polished silver chalice is structured around an imposing knot with relief decoration of thorns, reminding us, of course, of the Savior's sacrifice. An "operative" chalice, it was the receptacle of transubstantiation, that great Christian Mystery that is constantly renewed. The diameters of its base, like that of the paten, refer us to the apostles with its 12 cm.
The paten is also silver (a few knocks), and its Latin locution is an invitation: "and I will make of us all one sacrifice with Christ".
12" diameter
Height of 15 cm
850 grams.
A fine piece of Sacred Art that also owes its value to its certificate and history.
