Russian Orthodox icon composed of an oil on panel depicting the Infant Jesus seated on the Virgin Mary's lap, blessing St. John the Baptist as a child, and its finely chased solid silver oclade*, Russian hallmarks (84 + silversmith), 19th century.

This icon is in good condition. The solid silver mounting is hallmarked on the rim (see photo).
Please note: a few light dents on the silver, scratches and wear, see photos (see red arrows).
* The "oclades
or metal cover can be carved silver, inlaid with enamel or pearls, and are used for icons that have performed a miracle. There are several types of oclade: the "Basma" covers only the frame of the object. The "Riza" covers the background of the icon, leaving only the body of the figures visible.
