Elegant gilded metal reliquary cross mounted on a slender, elaborately carved foot. The center and arms of the cross are openwork and contain several compartments holding fragments of three elements: incense, resin and beeswax are secondary spiritual relics; our fragments are adorned with biblical scenes.
The whole is adorned with colored stones, including red, green and violet cabochons.
The use of gilded metal and semi-precious stones is characteristic of Greek crosses. Probably late 17th or early 18th century.
