Our monstrance is made of silver-plated copper.
It's a remarkable piece of fine workmanship from the Tyrol or southern Germany, in the Augsburg region.
The lunula is delicately and meticulously mounted with gilded wires, in a central position honoring a small relic of Saint Marcellin, Martyr.
It is symmetrically surrounded by four relics, probably those of Saint Bacchus, Saint Prosper and Saint Baptiste.
On the opposite side of our monstrance, on the back of the main relic, an oval medallion depicts a Roman family scene. Protected by the Holy Spirit, and no doubt echoing the relic on display, it depicts Saint Marcellin and his family, martyred in 303.
He is also surrounded by the same four relics.
Dimensions: 44 x 20 cm
Good condition, with some opacification of the glass.
