We will appreciate the balance and unusual shape of this monstrance with its vegetal curve.
In a delicate setting of gilded canetilles, geometrically placed pearls, and colorful glass beads, an ex-ossibus relic of Saint Bartholomew sits enthroned, displayed to fervor. It overlooks a second, so-called exiguous, relic of Saint Thaddeus, a 10th-century Martyr.
Our monstrance is made of carved and gilded wood and is surrounded by two palms, symbolizing the Martyr.
Four seals seal our relic.
An interesting handwritten note on the back specifies that the reliquary originally protected a relic of the True Cross.
An 18th-century Italian work, in beautiful condition despite some losses to the base.
Dimensions: 61 cm x 24 cm.
