On a 19th century foot in solid 925 silver with a master's mark, is placed a cherub that echoes the five angels placed on the base. This central angel is also hallmarked. It accommodates a Glory, posterior, in brass. The latter is decorated with twelve stars. The Twelve recalls the Old Testament with in particular the twelve tribes of Israel as well as the New Alliance with the twelve apostles.
The whole is topped with a cross enriched with glass beads.
In the center of our monstrance is honored a relic of Saint Eugene fixed on an element of passementerie with gold threads. On the back is a wax seal, struck with the initials F and A, guaranteeing the authenticity of the relic.
This is probably Saint Eugene, Martyr of the 3rd century who was one of the main companions of Saint-Denis. After having evangelized Spain, where he occupied the seat of Toledo, he came to Gaul and was the victim of the persecutions of Maximian (source Nominis)
