In a simple gilded wooden frame, we present an important reliquary frame, measuring 58 cm by 44 cm, and featuring a rich composition of Agnus Dei, Holy Relics and silver thread cannetilles, pearls and colored glassware.
An 18 cm x 12 cm oil painting, probably in vellum, sits at the center of this vast composition. It is a polychrome scene of the Adoration of the Magi, surrounded by eight holy elements, namely four wax agnus Dei and as many bagged ex-ossibus relics.
With us are Saint Boni, Saint Restitut, Saint Urbain and Saint Severin, all four Martyrs of the first centuries.
On the back of this precious reliquary we find a wax seal of the General Vicariate of an episcopate, and above all its authenticity, albeit later as it is dated 1832.
A Southern German work in fine condition.
It originally formed a pair with a second reliquary frame, which we also offer on this site.
