The LE JARDIN DES MOINES Gallery, antiques in Sacred art and religious objects offers you a large monstrance from the end of the 15th or the beginning of the 16th century. In embossed and hammered copper then silvered or gilded, it rests on a polylobed foot followed by a hexagonal stem interrupted by a flattened gadrooned knot with diamond-shaped cabochons. In the center, a cylindrical bulb receives bagged ex-ossibus relics. Saint Augustine and Saint Ambrose are honored here.
On either side of the relics are two fine flying buttresses topped with pinnacles.
Saint Amboise and Saint Augustine are linked as they were historically. Amboise, in his capacity as bishop welcomed the future Saint Augustine into the Christian community, by baptizing him.
