In two parts, our baptismal tank is made of limestone. It is richly sculpted and delicately polychromed.
The baluster base has sides carved with tracery and cherubs' heads. The tank, in reference to the figure of Christ, is octagonal as it should be. Its edges are decorated with a fine cord and several applique figures in strong relief representing Saint Joseph carrying a lily, the Virgin with her hands crossed on her chest, the dove of the Holy Spirit, a shell and finally, the 'Lamb lying on the book with the seven seals.
A beautiful, balanced piece from the end of the 16th century.
Dimensions: 100 cm by 64 cm.
Good condition despite some losses and polychrome repairs.
