Large porcelain planter with gilt bronze ornaments, made during the Meiji era (1868-1912) by a Japanese craftsman.
This rare and atypical object, of oval shape, is surrounded in the upper part by a frieze in relief alternating geometric motifs and floral decoration with scrolls. The body of the pot is painted with a background shaded with ochre colors. On the top, a Japanese scene shows a young courtesan in traditional clothes, lifted by the wind, showing a child the direction to follow. On the other side, another young woman seems to be looking in their direction.
This work tells a story, true to Japanese poetry.
A unique and charismatic creation, combining porcelain and rich bronze ornamentation.
Indeed, on the neck, we find an openwork gallery in finely chiseled gilt bronze. On each side, the handles show magnificent dragons flying away. The base is decorated with refined volutes.
This important planter will seduce you with its autumnal colors and its precious decorations.
