Eglomized glass miniature set under glass depicting an allegorical scene celebrating the military hero, where ladies under the empire marvel at a statue of helmeted Mars from antiquity. The oval miniature in a gilded brass frame is set against a mahogany veneered background. Empire-Restauration period, early 19th century.

This is a "very large" miniature, one of those small, detailed objects that complete an Empire or early 19th-century décor to create an authentic atmosphere. Presented here in a handsome frame.

Very good condition, frame cleaned, gilding well preserved.
