    Superb 18th century cast iron fireback decorated with coat of arms, olive branches and lyre.
    This large fireback, known as a "taque", adorned the great fireplaces of castles.
    It is adorned with olive branches on the rim and a "cul de bouteille" circle on the spandrels.
    Partially faded coat-of-arms at bottom, surrounded by olive branches
    The whole surmounted by a lyre adorned with fire-breathing eagles and a stylized sun
    The back is very curved, typical of very early cast iron.
