Pair of large mantel andirons, in bronze (antique patina) representing two mythological figures: Jupiter holding the thunderbolt with an eagle at his feet; and Juno, resting on a bowl with lions' heads and claw feet, base formed by 2 dolphins, a garland of fruit and a faun's head, model of the Italian sculptor Giuseppe de Levis*, 19th century period.
These andirons are in good condition. They are of high quality and are highly decorative due to their large size (probably castle fireplace andirons).
A similar model of andirons with Jupiter and a "prudish" Venus, by the sculptor Giuseppe de Levis (1552-1611), is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Please note: the two figures move a little on the base (will need to be screwed back on), some wear and scratches from the passage of time, please look at the photos.
