This fan with 15 strands is painted with gouache on paper of a chinoiserie. It presents on the right side an amusing and picturesque scene where we see on a landscape background, animated by birds and butterflies, a carriage on which a character is sitting. At the front is a perch that supports some parakeets, at the back a subject holds a parasol, the whole is pulled by a spotted animal that carries antlers, probably a deer. On one side is a musician on a branch and on the other a butterfly foraging on a flowering shrub. On the reverse side are painted in gouache two branches decorated with flowers. The bone strands have a chiseled decoration and inlaid with silver. The first and the last strand have an openwork decoration of geometrical motives also inlaid with silver and presenting in the center a female bust. Some small old restorations and small lacks to the silver inlays. Bone and gouache on paper, mid 18th century. Folded length 27 cm
