In the form of a basin, these cassolettes are supported by a small round pedestal which rests on a square base. We find on both sides, as well as at the bottom of the basin, a reserve, decorated with a bouquet of polychrome flowers, the periwinkle blue background is enhanced by arabesques, scrolls, garlands of flowers and rows of gold pearls. The whole is embellished by a gilded bronze mount consisting of two handles and four claw feet. The quality of the porcelain, the great finesse of the painted decoration as well as its great richness, prompted us to attribute these two objects to Jacob Petit. Jacob Petit, whose real name was Jacob Mardochee, was born in Paris in 1796 and died there in 1868. He learned to draw on his own and then became a student of Antoine Jean Gros, Baron Gros. Attracted very early by porcelain, he entered the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1822. Passionate about decorative arts, he made numerous trips to Europe to perfect his skills and discover new techniques. In 1830, following his study trips, he published a collection of interior decorations which was a great success. He was inspired by it throughout his life as an artist. In 1830 he became the owner of a porcelain factory in Fontainebleau with 80 employees and a workshop in Paris. Although he had different fortunes, he was recognized by all as a talented creator, driven all his life by the spirit of enterprise. Porcelain of Paris, Restoration period. In very good condition, but one of the two cups has undergone a small restoration to the wing. Height 18 cm.
