Glass cooler or canopy in painted sheet metal, decorated with landscapes on a black background from the Restoration period (around 1830).

This type of object is an authentic accessory of French service, where drinks were served by the glass by the servants, the glasses stored on the sideboard left to cool in ice. The crenelations on the edges are used to hold the stems of the glasses.

Our cooler is complete with glass tumblers from the early 19th century (before the invention of crystal around 1820). We offer here a rare collection set on the theme of tableware, or an accessory to complete a castle dining room and give the guide an anecdote to tell his visitors by explaining the use of this object, complete with its accessories.

The glass roof being made of sheet metal, it inevitably suffered from humidity during 200 years of use, some paint wear and small traces of corrosion. But a beautiful, authentic and interesting object.
