Beautiful surrealist compact made by Salvador Dali for Elsa Schiaparelli.
Circa 1935-1945

Surrealist compact depicting an American telephone dial, with a central cartouche for the owner's number. It is unencrypted, allowing the future owner to engrave his or her initials if desired.
In gilded brass and black lacquer.
Numbers and letters printed on a white background (mica paper).
Never-used interior mirror with winding handle.
Unsigned.
Model made for the Autumn-Winter 1935 Haute Couture fashion shows.
A similar powder case was exhibited at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs for the Elsa Schiaparelli exhibition.

Diameter: 8.5 cm. French edition (marked made in France) see photo number 6.

In good condition, the lacquer is not scratched on the lid of the compact, but there are scratches from use on the reverse side, please see detail photos.
