    Large in size, this box with a rounded top is a work from the Rhine valley in the 1750s, with careful cabinetmaking, this diminutive chest is veneered on all its sides with native wood, the cabinetmaker used walnut wire, burr walnut, maple, holly and plum, the different sides as well as the top are inlaid with flower branches inscribed in reserves inspired by the paneling found on the cabinets.
     
    The box rests on flattened ball feet and is surrounded at the bottom by an inverted cornice in blackened wood.
     
    The frame is made of softwood, an old stencil inscription is visible below the box: “J S 8”
     
    When the lid is opened, the interior reveals a large storage space as well as a set of 6 small drawers, allowing you to place small objects. The drawers whose fronts are framed with moldings are made of walnut and are assembled with dovetails.
     
    The iron lock with a surface-mounted chest as well as the two openwork iron hinge hinges are original, the lock works and prevents the opening of the box, on the front the small cut-out copper lock entrance seems to be that of the period .
     
    This beautiful object is in a very good state of conservation and authenticity.
