    Horn box, interior lined with gold leaf (hare's head hallmark), decorated on the lid with a solid gold plaque engraved "Bequeathed by Count Paul de la Moussaye* to Monsieur Peltier the Friend of his Family", from the 19th century.
    This box is in good condition. Hallmarked see photos.
    Please note: the interior plate of the cover is unsoldered at the edges (see red arrows), small slot in the horn in a corner, scratches and wear over time, see photos.
    * The La Moussaye family, originally from Brittany, is a surviving family of the French nobility of ancient extraction.
    Paul François Auguste de La Moussaye (1832-1900) son of Victor François de La Moussaye (1797-1882), colonel commanding the place of Saint-Omer; himself son of François-Augustin viscount de la Moussaye (1757-1837), colonel of cavalry, younger brother of Victor-François, marquis de la Moussaye (Second branch of Chesnaye-Tanio).
