* Jean Pierre Chasselat (circa 1748- 1814):
Miniature painter and draughtsman. Pupil at the Académie until 1771. He then became a pupil of Joseph-Marie Vien. From 1793, he lived on rue Jacob, probably until his death. Chasselat left drawings from the 1170s, and his earliest known miniatures date from around 1775, after his graduation from the Académie school. He was a talented miniature artist. He painted full-length and three-quarter-length portraits with hands, in a variety of poses. (Excerpt from Les Peintres en miniature by Nathalie Lemoine-Bouchard).
