Thailand, 1920s/1930s, in the Ayuttaya style (ancient kingdom of Siam), superb and important bronze Buddha head presented on a base. The face, of a beautiful finesse, reflects a deep serenity.
This piece of fine quality is highlighted by a modern base made at the request of the last owner. He wears a headdress called "one hundred and eight snails". According to legend, these are said to have saved Buddha's life while he was sitting in the sun, immersed in deep meditation. The elegant protuberance visible at the top of the skull corresponds to Buddha's bun (unisha).
Height 22.5 cm (32 cm with the base). The scale indicator on the last photograph is a small model of lighter from a well-known brand.
