Charles Paillet studied sculpture with Georges Gardet. Paillet's first exhibition took place at the Salon of 1897 and he exhibited regularly until 1921. Most of his works were cast by the Thiebault Frères foundry, both using lost wax and the sand casting method. . Some of his works have been recorded also bearing the foundry mark F. Barbedienne. Charles Paillet, Georges Gardet, René Paris, as well as others form the second generation of animal sculptors and exhibit their works between the great period of animal bronzes and the art deco period which will replace the naturalist animal style.
