Jean BAILLY (b. 1940), French painter born in Algiers. He spent his childhood in Orléans, then lived in Paris until 1966.
He devoted himself fully to painting, which he had practiced since his youth, and quickly achieved success with group exhibitions in France and abroad (Germany, China, Japan, Canada, Norway, Netherlands). But it was also through his solo exhibitions in Kansas (USA), Meudon and Orléans that he came to be recognized for his great talent.
His painting is characterized by great realism and a powerful concern for the detail of characters or compositions that, in reality, do not exist. He draws his inspiration from his imagination, which may well be directly related to the Middle Ages. His unique, extraordinarily sensitive touch sublimates his compositions.
This superb work, an oil on panel from 1982, is a still life entitled "La théière" ("The Teapot"). It is signed by the artist in the lower left-hand corner. It was exhibited the same year at the Salon des artistes orléanais.
Dimensions: Height 27 cm. Width 41 cm (37.8 cm X 52 cm with its attractive frame). Work and frame in good condition.
