Japan, 1930s/1950s, very pretty wooden bugaku dance mask decorated with dry lacquer and depicting the character of Shintoriso, a joyful character with a mustache and beard adorned with curls and red cheeks. Bugaku is a traditional Japanese dance reserved for the elite, mainly from the Japanese imperial courts. For more than a thousand years, the rites of this dance remained secret, distinguishing the upper classes.
Creation of very good quality. Presence of a label on the inside with ideograms relating to the original workshop.
Good condition except for slight wear and cracks of age without affecting the beautiful aesthetic.
