India, first third of the 20th century, very pretty carved wooden chariot panel representing the marriage in Madurai of the goddess Meenakshi with Sundareshwarar, the avatar of Shiva. The whole is surrounded by plant scrolls. At the top a fantastic animal head is visible. Beautiful quality of the sculpture in strong relief restoring the beauty of the details.
Height 29.8 cm. Width 19.5 cm. Depth 5.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone.
Good condition except for slight normal wear and tear.
